Indian Style Thanksgiving Turkey Recipe
Hey all, Happy Thanksgiving.
Today, we�re going to show you how to makeIndian Style Thanksgiving Turkey.
You�re going to be using a lot of spicesto make the masala for this Turkey recipe
so if you can�t find a particular spicethat�s okay.
Here�s what you definitely need for thisrecipe:
One 12 to 16 1 lb turkey1.5 cups of coriander powder
? cup of fried onions1 tablespoon of red chili powder
1 teaspoon black cumin seeds (zeera)� a megnut
1 teaspoon whole black pepper or peppercorns5 green cardmom, 5 black cardomom --- not
shown here1 chopped orange
1 chopped lemon-you�ll also need � � cup of olive oil
2 cans of vegetable broth (14.5oz)and you�ll need
12 garlic cloves1.5 inch of ginger which aren�t shown here.
� tablespoon of salt or to taste
The following items are optional:
2 slices of coconut? cup of charoli (chirongee)
3-4 pieces of mace (javitri) - optional9 cloves (loong)
? cup of almonds
Okay, so now we�re going to start by usinga mini blender. We�re going to add the:
macethe megnut
the peppercornsthe black cardmom and the green cardomom
the clovesand the black cumin seeds
And then, grind it.
Now, we�ll add the following to a regularblender.
almondscoriander powder
the coconutthe fried onions
charoli (chirongee)red chili powder
gingerthe garlic cloves
the saltand 2 cups of water
Then, you�re going to go ahead and blendit.
So, you�re going to then add the mix fromthe blender into a big bowl. Then, you�ll
also add the masala from the mini blenderto it, and mix.
Add the olive oil to the turkey and rub itall over the turkey including in the its stomach.
You�ll also take the chopped up lemon andorange and just add it to the blended mix.
You�ll also want to marinate the turkeyneck into the mix.
Then you�re going to take the oranges andlemons and stick in the turkey�s stomach
along with most of the mix.
You�ll also want to add the rest of themix on top of the turkey.
Then add three cups of water to the bottomof the pan. This is so the spices won�t
burn and turkey won�t be so dry.
Basically, for every additional 5 lbs theturkey weighs you can add one cup of water.
Then you can let the turkey marinate overnightin the fridge.
The next day, you�ll preheat the oven at350.
Cover the turkey with aluminum foil and cookit for four hours.
You�ll notice here that we actually tieddown the turkey wings with some thread. This
is really just for the aesthetics.
After that, you�re going to remove the foiland let it cook in the oven for 5-10 minutes.
This is to give the turkey a nice bronze color.
Afterwards, you�re going to remove all thegravy from the bottom of the pan and add it
to a pot.
Add two cans of vegetable broth. And bringthe gravy to a boil.
Then you�ll want to add 4 heaping teaspoonsof cornstarch so that gravy thickens a little
bit.
And that�s basically it.
You can serve the turkey with rice and addthe gravy on top for more flavor.
